SUMMARY
With minimal supervision operate factory CNC machinery. These duties require manual skills and visual awareness to manufacture goods accurately to manufacturing drawings. Conduct thorough first article inspections and demonstrate effective cost saving measures. Demonstrate good knowledge and ability in the safe operation of all factory equipment e.g. band saw, hand tools etc. Demonstrate good problem solving, self-motivation and team working skills.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate relevant CNC machinery, manufacture good quality products with minimal or no waste, respecting the manufacturing schedules.
- Configure and download files to relevant CNC machinery, liaising with engineering department to facilitate adequate data transfer for CAD/CAM machinery.
- Maximizes foam yield and productivity/efficiency through optimal programming of CNC cutting lay outs. Makes recommendations that will drive cost down activities in coordination with sourcing, quality and engineering.
- Responsibility for machine maintenance as requiredManage foam stock levels, ensure foam stock rotation and reduction of stock value.
- .Work through processes as detailed on production orders, prints or specifications including the picking of parts and supplies, band saw cutting, edge preparation, fitting of hardware and any relevant container facilities, rack frame assembly and installation, foam cutting, assembly and installation, container labelling and stenciling up to final inspection.
- Operate relevant CNC machinery, manufacture good quality products with minimal or no waste, respecting the manufacturing schedules.
- Operate various factory equipment in addition to CNC equipment e.g. band saw, hand tools.
- Configure and download files to relevant CNC machinery, liaising with engineering department to facilitate adequate data transfer for CAD/CAM machinery.
- Manage foam stock levels, ensure foam stock rotation and reduction of stock value.
- Conduct thorough first piece inspections by self-checking own work and others for completeness and accuracy, ensuring all standards are met.
- Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and questionable conditions to appropriate supervisor or manager.

- Maintain work area(s) and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years Previous CNC operator and programming experience is advantageous.
- Knowledge of CAD software is an advantage (e.g. AutoCAD).
- Forklift Truck license is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering and assembly drawings.
- Good computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
- Must have accurate measuring and cutting skills.
- Must possess manual dexterity and coordination.
